Mustard Tree exists to create choice and opportunity for people who are homeless and marginalised.
Mustard Tree was established as a charity in 1994 by Dave and Shona Smith who started by taking food and drink onto the streets and spending time listening to those sleeping rough. We are now based across three sites; a large warehouse facility in Ancoats, and a retail outlet in Eccles Precinct and Little Hulton. We work annually with approx 4000 registered clients. The majority of our clients are referred from statutory agencies such as Manchester City Council teams, the Probation Service, the NHS, and Housing Associations. We provide life support and promote sustainable solutions through the provision of food, clothing, furniture, training and enterprise. We seek to improve the life-skills, resilience and wellbeing of our clients so that they have the choice and opportunity of moving in to work, education, training or volunteering.
